The Messbauer furnace

The height of the optical axis of the furnace above the surface of the spectrometer table is 55 mm, the diameter of the samples is up to 21 mm, the length of the furnace in the direction of the optical axis is not more than 70 mm. The sample is installed in a screw-up cassette and is thermally insulated from the external environment by two screens on each side made of mylar and thin aluminum foil or graphlex. The total absorption of 14.4 keV radiation by the screens does not exceed 10-15%.
The furnace is attached to the MS-1104Em spectrometer plate with non-falling screws and, if necessary (for example, when using a camera for recording conversion electrons or other equipment), it is easily removed and installed back. The folding mounting of the furnace allows for rapid replacement of samples without waiting for it to cool down, to perform operational calibration of the spectrometer without removing the furnace, and to measure the Mossbauer spectra of absorbers at room temperature outside it in geometry with a moving source or absorber, including in "compressed" geometry and using resonance detectors.
