About

NASHA LABA is an online catalogue of scientific equipment, consumables, reagents, furniture, utensils and everything that can be useful for scientists and engineers. All of the products are manufactured in Russia or Belarus.

The idea of the project appeared in June 2022, when it became clear that many foreign companies, suppliers of "scientific household goods", were leaving the Russian market. Certainly, it was possible to buy many things through "parallel imports", but it was often difficult, expensive and time-consuming.

Then we wondered: what is already produced in Russia and in our neighbouring Belarus of those things that our scientists and engineers need? It is time to take a look at what we already have ourselves, isn't it?

The founders of the project, Sergey Adonin and Olga Tarasova, members of the Coordination Council on Youth Affairs in Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation, began to collect information about our manufacturers. Soon the first, rather simple, online version of the NASH LABA catalogue appeared.

At the first stage, it was developed manually by our volunteers, who transferred information about the products from the companies' websites (and provided a link so that any interested visitor could contact the manufacturer and order what they needed). It was labourious and challenging, but we had no other way at the start of the project.

The first personal accounts appeared some time later: manufacturers were able to add information about their products themselves. Today, not only manufacturers have personal accounts, but also potential customers. It is very convenient to contact goods suppliers through them.

At the end of 2022, with the support of our partners, Uralchem, NASHA LABA had its first offline-format: we organised an exhibition of Russian and Belarusian manufacturers of scientific equipment and consumables as part of the II Congress of Young Scientists (1-3 December). More than 30 brands were represented - the latest equipment for scientists-chemists, biologists, physicists and many others.

As part of the Congress, the President of the Russian Federation met with young scientists, and Olga Tarasova told him about our project. The Head of State approved this initiative.

Shortly after the Congress, the project website was substantially updated and refined, with a better version created. It formed the basis for the current look of NASHA LABA:

Today, NASHA LABA is more than just a catalogue of equipment. By creating small auxiliary services, we are trying to build an ecosystem that will help both our scientists, who are looking for the equipment they need for their work, and manufacturers.

Here are just a few of them:

“Producer Support Measures” - we created an aggregator of information on a variety of federal and regional tools that are designed to help our producers. The information is constantly updated.

“Scientific Workshops”. Are you a craftsman who can competently repair and service both imported and domestic scientific equipment? Does your organisation have its own "workshop" and you are ready to help your colleagues? Join, here you go: https://lab.scienceid.net/scientific-workshop/

In 2023, the following services appeared: "Register of reagents", "Search for analogues of foreign equipment", a smart search system was developed, the catalogue is presented in different foreign languages: English, French, Spanish (great assistance was provided by scientific volunteers of the Faculty of International Relations of MGIMO University of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

The implementation of all initiatives became possible with the support of the non-state Institute of Development "Innopraktika", the companies "Uralchem", "Sibur Polilab", grant support of "Rosmolodezh", assistance of partners-manufacturers "Algimed", "Europolitest" and other organisations.

The laboratory exposition of the project NASHA LABA was displayed at the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia" at VDNKh, Pavilion 57, the exposition of the Decade of Science and Technology.

Since February 2024, the initiative has been implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund as part of the project " NASHA LABA Research Assistant".
